From Salt to Style
Pangasinan, from the root word “asin” or salt, has always been associated with the substance. A sweeping coastal town that borders the Philippines and the sea, it is small surprise that it has been known for all manner of salted goods, ranging from dried fish (tuyo), milkfish and of course, salt itself with its myriad uses in food as well as in industry.
Today though, this proudly Ilocano region is extending its proverbial wings to also place its stake in the worlds of mindful luxury.
Aside from its mountain of salt, Pangasinan has a bounty of buri, a type of palm indigenous to their area, bangkwang, a seagrass that when dried and turned into rope, proves durable and beautiful, and cornhusk, as the second largest producer of corn in the country.
These materials, together with the talents and ingrained industriousness of its people, poise Pangasinan as a creative and artisanal hub that can produce items ready to go toe-to-toe with the rest of the world.
Here in Psalta, you will get to discover and purchase, these objects of style.
From cornhusks fashioned into arm candy, to chef knives as sharp as they are svelte, to fusions of wood, metal and acrylic to form modern furniture for your dwellings, all these can be found here.
